We promote top flight race meetings at both Tullyroan Oval near Dungannon and Aghadowey Oval near Coleraine. The Thunder Rods aim to provide cost effective non-contact racing. Limited to a certain number of eligible cars, the most popular choice is the Vauxhall Astra, although other models like the Ford Sierra, Escort, VW Golf and Peugeot 207 & 306 are also permitted. The formula has produced some fantastic, wheel-to-wheel racing and some big grids, and is proving to be an excellent feeder formula for our more senior classes.
The Thunder Rods will again run predominantly at Aghadowey Oval in 2024, but with more outings to Tullyroan Oval also planned plus a chance to sample Tipperary Raceway during the summer. An excellent place to start your non-contact oval racing career! |
